My sweet friend is expecting her third! What an honor it is to be invited into the major milestones of the ones you love. This day was absolutely full of joy and laughter, spending time together and capturing motherhood. I’ve always believed that family photos, for any occasion, should be fun and personal to your family. Well, Abbie’s little ones are WILD and energetic. Her connection with them is a calming force that made for perfect snuggles in between moments of beautiful chaos.
STUDIO: The Photo Loft
We shot this maternity session in a gorgeous natural light studio in Denver. The weather was just thinking of warming up for Spring and we knew we wanted to provide a place for the kids to be wild and have fun.
I always approach planning a lifestyle session with the belief that you know your kids best. Choosing a location, outfits, and activities that will make them feel comfortable will always make for more authentic images of your family.
I’ve had many mamas in my inbox saying that they desperately want to capture this season of life, but they don’t think that their kids will behave for 60+ minutes in front of a camera. I get it! If I’m completely transparent with you, I always worry about this too when my family gets our photos done. It can feel uncomfortable to get in front of a camera and be expected to perform.
The great news is that when you take an intentional, story-minded approach to planning your session, you are placing your family’s experience ahead of your expectations and helping me create a space where they feel comfortable and silly and most like themselves (this goes for husbands too).
It feels inauthentic to me to place you in a field and tell you to smile at me. I want to capture you as you really are, doing things you love. I want to sit on the floor with your babies and win them over so I can actually capture their personality and connection to one another.
Life is messy and emotional and fun and silly and loud and joyous and vibrant - I think your session should be too.
